Convert your CD collection to MP3 or FLAC in just 15 minutes !

Simply put - we take your CD collection and professionally convert it into a digital music library. We securely extract the CD audio, we tag using the latest ID3v tags that are consistent and accurate through checks against multiple databases and then apply artwork to each album which is displayed on your digital music player.

For MP3 files we use high quality encoding (up to 320kbps VBR). We then return your CD collection with your new digital music collection, usually within 5 days. This can then be played back on your iPod, MP3 player, PC and even some CD\DVD players. We also encode to FLAC digital files.

If you send us your iPOD or other digital music player at the time of your order we will even load it with your new digital music too, for free.

So how does it work?

Initially you need to place an order with us on our secure server. The payment information you enter here is encrypted and private. We will then send you the packing materials by first class post. You package your CDs, call us, and we arrange for our courier to pick up your CDs from your desired location. If you prefer you can drop off your collection in person. At all stages of the order process we keep you fully up to date on your order status via email. You may also contact us at any time by phone or email if you have any questions.

Using the latest technology with advanced error correction control, cdlabs will professionally encode your cherished CD collection into high quality digital music which will sound far superior to most domestic capabilities.

What happens in your labs?

Firstly we extract the music from your CDs. This is the stage that can often lead to poor quality results due to tiny scratches on the CD, poorly designed computer CD readers found on many PC's or software not written to accurately extract the music. Our software/hardware minimises these problems by performing exhaustive error checking and correction until we are sure it is as near 100% as possible. This can take over 30 minutes per CD.

We're dedicated to quality digital audio music - free from hisses, pops and scratches! No one else tries harder than us to give you perfect MP3 reproduction.

Once we are satisfied the data has passed our vigorous error checking controls, we then encode the extracted audio using custom encoding software. Our default service encodes to what we believe is the best format for MP3 files. We use a Variable Bit Rate (up to 320kbps). It is specifically designed for people who want to listen to high fidelity music with the added advantage of smaller file sizes - meaning you can squeeze more music onto your iPod or other MP3 player. We now also encode to FLAC digital files for absolute CD quality.

We use commercial systems and custom software written by our engineers to achieve high levels of quality and precision.

We are so pleased with the quality of our MP3 music everyone who works at cdlabs has used our systems default service to digitise their own CD collections - and we have some very discerning music buffs here...

If it doesn't sound superb, we're not happy, and you won't be either! Of course we can convert into most digital formats and bit rates if you require a customized service, please contact us with your requirements. (See our Frequently Asked Questions section for more technical details.)

Additionally, we'll even put your MP3s onto your MP3 player FREE if you send it to us with your CDs

Once we have produced your MP3s we will copy them onto DVD, we also copy onto an external hard disk as a back up if you choose this option (compulsory for FLAC). All your MP3 files are labeled by artist, album, track number and track name - so you'll always be able to find the song you want quickly and easily. All you albums are also tagged with the relevant artwork too.

About 50 CD's worth of mp3 files will fit on one DVD which can be easily copied to your iPod, mp3 player or PC

We then safely repackage your CD collection and courier everything directly back to you - again all fully insured against loss or damage at £15 per CD.
