Hi-Pro Encode™, CDlabs proprietary encoding software uses comprehensive error detection and extraction techniques, advanced encoding algorithms and intelligent tagging to create hi-fidelity digital music library designed to maximise sound quality without compromise.
We are music lovers and take digital music quality very seriously. Both professional and personal collections are encoded to the same high standard.
CDlabs recommends two forms of digital music FLAC and MP3 (Apple Lossless, AAC and other codecs available):
MP3 - CDlabs encode MP3 to the highest quality standards available today whilst preserving reasonable file sizes. We use a variable bit rate (VBR) up to 320kbps. This produces smaller file sizes without sacrificing quality when compared to using a fixed bit rate of 224kbps for example. However by definition MP3 is still not CD audio quality but gives the best audio quality to file size. This has made MP3 the most popular format for portable devices such as the Apple iPod.
FLAC - This is an emerging digital music standard which has several major benefits over MP3. Firstly, there is absolutely no loss in audio quality when converting to FLAC from CD, FLAC digital music produces perfect CD audio quality. Secondly, FLAC is a sensible backup (archive) of your CD collection against future loss or damage. Thirdly, FLAC future proofs you digital music collection, you can convert FLAC to any other digital format in the future simply and easily without ripping your entire CD collection again.
FLAC files are larger than MP3 or AAC files and require more disk space to be stored, however it is the best solution for home media systems such as a PC, Sonos DMS or Squeezebox or any system where ultimate sound quality is required and file storage space is not an issue.
Apple Lossless has similar characteristics to FLAC but is not widely supported by third party manufacturers.

Conversion costs just 99p per CD. CDlabs will encode to both FLAC and MP3 (providing the best of both worlds) for only £1.26 per CD, this represents a 75% discount when ordered together. If you would prefer, we can offer Apple Lossless or AAC instead. CDlabs also encode to custom formats and bit rates, pricing for this is available on request.
